Learning to Embroider

Thank you so much for sharing!

I participate in #talknt (Talkin’ Tuesdays), which is a twitter chat about mostly quilting where other quilters and sewists chat about and answer questions by the coordinator, Cara.  Anyway, one of the regular participators is Bari J and she has 2 blogs, one for design and one for embroidery.  After visiting the site, We Love French Knots I got inspired to learn to embroider.  I have been looking for an activity to do while sitting next to the hubs watching tv, or waiting in the car etc.  I love crochet for this too, but I have not been as inspired to crochet here in Hawaii.  When I first thought of embroidery, I thought old lady super cutesy designs that were not anything i would be interested in trying… but there are a few projects that I think are so beautiful, modern and creative, I have to give it a try.

Here is what’s on my hoop right now… practice.  I’ve been watching Bari’s videos on youtube and practicing along.

I am learning to embroider as well. I have been doing the stitch and quilt along that my friend has on her bog "Clover & Violet" (actually I have all the material and thread and have yet to get my quilt/embroidery anywhere close to finished but it is in the works)

She taught all the different embroidery stitches for the mini quilt and is now doing another one with a cute bag that has a big embroidered pocket on the front. You should check it out and join in. www.cloverandviolet.com
